About Shetlands

Shetlands are a small, primitive or "unimproved" breed of sheep. Like Dorper sheep, they are known for their hardiness, good mothering and lambing, adaptability and being able to do well under harsh conditions.

Shetlands are very easy to care for. Their small size makes them easy to handle and they don't eat as much as larger breeds. They are born with short, fluke-shaped tails so no docking is required.

Our Shetlands are all very friendly and each one has a name. They love to be petted and will wag their tails when they are happy.

In our Shetland breeding program, our goal is to produce sheep with good conformation, a wide range of fleece types, colours and markings, and with friendly, calm personalities.

We have sheep that meet these requirements for sale year round. Registered Shetlands are sold as breeding stock and our wethers (neutered males) are sold as pets. Discounts are given if more than three sheep are purchased at a time.

Starter flocks are also available as we have a wide range of bloodlines in our flock. We have Shetlands from western Canada, the United States and Ontario plus we have both Dailley and Flett in most of the lines.
